The Roof’s on Fire! is set in the community of Logan Heights, where Gaen Connolly, enters local Fire Station Five.  Three generations of African American women run The Baobab Restaurant next door, and they’ve been on the receiving end of years of outright hostility from the Great White Fireman.  Gaen will be forced to choose loyalties during a long hot summer.

Fanny Fine’s tomato harvest is scrawny, Demeter’s got a bun in the oven and the amazons in Logan are sharpening axes – but the firemen at Station Five aren’t reading the signs.
